Nature
which he personally considers . . "Not
an adversary to conquer and destroy, but a storehouse of infinite knowledge
. . . linking man to all things past and present."
Come, vist and

It's the story that counts
Yellowstone National Park
Wyoming Yellowstone
National Park - The park is
famous for its many natural wonders, but it is Old Faithful that must
be accorded a major credit for the area's becoming the world's first national
park in 1872. Although overshowed by this giant geyser, the colorful canyons,
waterfalls, lakes, mountain scenery, and abundant wildlife help round
out this wilderness symphony.
Yellowstone showcases the Grand
Canyon of the Yellowstone River which is a young valley, only a little
more than 100,000 years old. It slices its way downward through altered
volcanic rock. It produces a colorful canyon of exceptional beauty. As
though to give emphasis to the setting, the river plunges over a lava
ridge to form Yellowstone Falls before continuing its turbulent course.
To the Sheepeater Indians, Yellowstone was "The Land of Evil Spirits,"
and this strange and mysterious canyon was regarded with a mixture of
fear and awe.
