Lewis &
Clark National Historical Park incorporates state parks in Washington
and Oregon along with the current Fort Clatsop National Memorial Park
A small protective log fortification marked the culmination of a memorable
journey of discovery by the Lewis and Clark expedition in 1805. Within
this fort, meticulous historical and scientific reports about the journey
were written that were to profoundly affect the future of the nation and
the Pacific Northwest.
Walk where Lewis and Clark and the rest of the Corps from the Voyage
of Discovery walked. The stories of hardship and danger, of surprising
collaboration and adaptations, and of exploration and discovery make this
a national treasure commenorating exploration.
Fort Clatsop commemorates the 1805-06 winter encampment of the 33-member
Lewis and Clark Expedition.
